According to the Department of state statistics, Ukrainians spent on food and non-alcoholic beverages 42.1% of all their consumer spendings in the first quarter of 2018.
The Department noted that the final consumer spendings in the first quarter of 2018 are almost 503.5 billion UAH.
People spent 211.8 billion UAH on food and non-alcoholic beverages in monetary terms. Ukrainians spent 37.9 billion UAH, or 7.6% of expenses, on alcoholic beverages and tobacco products.
Let us remind, that the population's income increased by 30% and expenses – by 24% in 2017. The number of families, whose income is bigger than the actual minimal cost of living, has increased. There are 61.8 % or 23.9 million people of such families. It was 46.4%, or 18 million people of such families in 2016, so the increase is 15.4%.
The actual minimal cost of living in 2017 fixed as 3 thousand 544 hryvnia per person per month.
